Netbook Reflections 2013

How has having a Netbook connected to the internet helped my learning this year ?

Having a Netbook is cool. There is different things that you can do with it. Firstly going on google docs on my Netbook is great because you can edit on writing without a hassle (Only when internet is not working right). Which is great because you can go on offline. I like doing this because you can not only work by yourself but also in a group.

Secondly it’s great using Math Whizz because you learn different things like Decimals, Fractions,Place Values. Xtramath has helped me with my basic facts I have learn’t how to use Divided by faster and also my Times table.

Using Reading on google sites has been awesome knowing that I can always go online and use it to ready books and also do reading activities and next year my goal is to work harder at reading and writing.

Highlight's Of The Year 2013

The first highlight of the year was going to Waitangi in the Bay of island.Going there experiencing different things about why the treaty was signed.The treaty of waitangi was first signed on 6 february 1830.The Treaty is an agreement, in Maori and English, that was made between the British Crown and about 540 Maori rangatira chiefs

The second highlight was sleeping in the Copthorne hotel and and getting room service and also eating the delicious food. And then going to Auckland city to the Westpac HQ  for the opening of the the KIDS NATION were kids in New Zealand will go into a competition for 3 school can go to waitangi and experience the cool things you can do.

Also going to Camp Keswick and going to blue lake also going to the Rotorua pools was awesome because you can bomb in the pools. The luge was another exciting thing to do because going down the hill very fast and turning sharp corners.

Camp Keswick 2013

  CAMP KESWICK 2013 HIGHLIGHT

When we left school at 8:00 clock and arrived at camp Keswick like 2:00 clock. We had to pack our stuff and then we walked up a mountain and it was like a 3 k walk for dinner we had chicken casserole. Then the next day we went to agradom it was funny part  for me is when Max’s dad Max was milking the cow and tried to drink the milk from the nibble and also when the dogs running on top of the sheeps.

On Thursday we went to blue lake it  was pretty solid because we got to swim in the nice cold water it had no salt water and it was also fresh. Then we went back to camp grounds and had lunch then we went to the Rotorua pools we got to do some bombs and jump of a tramp into the pools.

On friday we went to the luge it was cool going up the gondola. Then we went on the luge it was cool going down the hill fast and turning the corners and sig sags .

Swimming

For the past 2 weeks we have been doing swimming. I learn’t how to not touch the ground I have also learn’t how to keep our arm’s straight and how to breath the right way.I think I have achieved my breathing and my speed. I think I need to work on my back strokes.

Paintball

This morning we had 40 minutes to write about anything we wanted from this we are going to get some writing goals for the term here is what I wrote.                     

                             Paintball .

Entering the paintball field as we spilt up to attack the other team to capture their flag. Our team stuck together like we were a Spec Op team. It felt like we were back in world war 1 again. From the corner of my eye I get the sense that there's someone coming to attack and BANG I shot him right in the chest.

My sister runs and gets the flag and I back her up by Shooting every target that gets in our way. Everyone gets to the flag only 1 of our teammate was taken down. My uncle yells out ‘go go go’ as a command for us to head back to the base sprinting like we were running away from a lion and jumping obstacles like a free runner.

Then when we left our team got to have McDonald's and the losing team had to eat 2 big Ben pies each.

The thing that I like about my writing is the metaphor for example sprinting like we were running away from a lion and jumping obstacles like a free runner

My goals are to make my hook more better and to have more vocabulary. To have more punctuation.

DLO - Year 6

I went 7 x 90 = 630 then 4 x 7 = 28 then I put 630 + 28 = 658

DLO- For Math - Prisms.

 3 Divided by 48 =

I first went 3 divided by 30 = 10 so their is 18 left and I went 3 Divided by 18 = 6 so I put 10 + 3 = 13

2013 Cross Country

As we get to the starting line we were waiting for Mr Burt to say go . Go’ said’ Mr Burt, Off we go running across the muddy field. On our cross country day we ran with burst running around the reserve,  some with steady jog many lagging behind.Mud splattered back my feet squelching in the mud still hanging in with my steady jog then dread goes my pasted.

As we got through the track it was getting harder than people start losing their pasted tricky to maneuver and also exhausting.But some are still running hard even if their aching muscles are sore. Trying to get that first place like they are in the Olympic games.

Almost to the finish line. Then as we get to the finish line the kids and family are cheering for us then I cross the finish line and i am happy that i have competed in the cross country.Now everyone gets together in a group and they talk about how tired they were and talking about what place did they come.

Extreme movie

Mosa,Rahan ,Nathaniel ,Jonathan,Roman movie because it was like a comedy action

I like this movie because it was entertaining and that how mosa gets kidnapped as a girl and rahan was the bad guy and nathaniel was chasing after him.

The negative thing about this movie was that the beginning had no sound and it was sort of had no point to it  but overall it was funny.

Math goals for next term

My goal for next term in maths is to focus on when I am in a group is to say what I am thinking so that I can keep on learning from my mistakes.

Prospective Student.

Muscles aching trying to get to the top of the vertical mountain the boy was feeling exhausted. Hand to hand gripping tightly to the rocks he was struggling. But knowing he was near the top walking with perseverance and determination.

Walking to the big terrifying dojo door feeling nervous and determined to see what the sansei will say. With carouge the sansei points to the right and the student think to himself “I'm not worth it” so he sit’s and fold his leg’s. Starts to meditate night and day. Until the sansei opens the door and once again points to his right. So the student walks away.

He grounds with a frown and suddenly turns and kicks the door open and tries to challenge the sansei in a fight then he points to the sign and looks. It says USE THE SIDE ENTRANCE and he thinks to himself I’m a foul.   

Little Ben Riding Hood

Once upon a time there was boy named Ben, he lived in a city called Auckland. He’s 12 years old, he’s the only one in his family. He likes wearing a blue hood.

He was a stubborn little boy he would never listen to his parents they had to bribe him by giving him treats so that he would do what he was told. One day his parents told him to go and visit his grandfather in Henderson to help him to fix his car. Ben biked 200 k's.

Ben was biking for about 2 hours but then a car came over and asked him where he was going. Ben said“  I'm going to my grandfather’s house”. The man said wanna go for a ride to your grandfather house on my car. Then suddenly Ben remember the face of the person that came on the news, thats was criminal three nights ago.. So Ben slowly moved to the bike that was on the ground ,Once

slowly picked it up then when the man looked away to see who was making that loud noise. Ben just hopped on his bike and he disappeared like a wind. The man got on his car and tried to catch up to Ben.

But Ben was too fast. Ben finally saw his grandfather’s house he hopped off his  bike and he ran to the house and shut the door fast. Ben was looking for his grandfather but the suddenly he saw him fixing the car. Ben went and told his grandfather. His grandfather rang the cop. The cops came and caught the criminal and afterwards, Ben finally goes and help his grandfather fix the car and lived happily ever after.  

kiti and the beanstalk

One day there was a boy called kiti he has a poor family. He and his little tribe were going to a rich village called Rangitoto village , he went to explore his new village and he saw an old lady who trades magic beans. That old lady was the giants mother they did not know. He went and asked the old lady how much it costs. The old lady said it costs 10 gold tokens for one, he traded with the old lady. The old lady said go plant it and when it finishes growing, climb it and when you reach the top there will be lots of gold.

Kiti went home and planted it. He went to sleep but in the middle of the night he suddenly woke up because he heard lots of sounds, he then came outside to see what was happening then he saw his beans that grew he looked at it and said “thats massive’’. He then went and told the whole village.   

Kiti climbed up the beanstalk, it took him one whole day to climb it and finally he reached the top. He saw a light, it glowed and then suddenly he heard a big giant saying “you just got fooled”. Kiti and the giant had a fight, Kiti then got knocked out onto the ground. The giant then killed Kiti by eating him for dinner. You could hear Kiti’ yelling and screaming from inside the giants stomach..

Black Caps Lost To England

A big lost on Black Caps at the Lord’s Cricket.Black Caps only need 238 for victory.However, 7 wickets have been smashed from the England bowler Stuart Broad as the team was dismissed for 69-170 runs.

Earlier in the day Tim Southee only the second New Zealand bowler to take 10 wickets in a match at Lord’s.New Zealand will have a regroup and will be playing  the next test in just in a week.

WILL.I.AM

The day WILL.I.AM came to our school.We had NO idea that he will be coming to our school but I was cool because Mr Burt gave us some clues that WILL.I.AM and he said ‘Do you know a band Called BLACK EYE PEAS’ and everybody stared to get chills down their spines.

Then I clicked and I knew it was going to be WILL.I.AM then Mr Burt said ‘Do you know a man called WILL.I.AM’ and I was like yes because he is the first famous singer from America/California besides on T.V it would have been cool if Chris Brown came but WILL.I.AM man he is a great singer and i like the beats that he has made in his Knew song with Justin bieber.

So has he waked in with the prefix from our school when I looked at him I was like man he’s got swag. so Patrick said his speech in Maori but then he made a mistake when came to the English part because he had only one night to practise but he still stood up and looked out loud and proud.

So the kapahaka group did their item and after that the hip hop did their item and that was awesome and WILL.I.AM got to finally say a speech and he said that his dream was to look after his mother because he didn't know who was his father so his music Carrie gave him a chance to look after his mother and after that he gave a cheaq with $100,000,00 dollar’s which was donated for all the Manaiakalani schools.

                  To me that is a great thing that he has done for us kids.
